Texas A&M Vertical Flight Design Team

Our Mission

The Texas A&M Vertical Flight Design Team is focused on pushing the boundaries of vertical flight through innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. We aim not only to succeed in competition but to create impactful solutions that advance the industry. Structured like a professional design team, VFD members develop valuable engineering and professional skills by overcoming real-world design challenges and constraints. Our ultimate goal is to prepare our members to continue pioneering innovation in the field of vertical flight after graduation.

VFD places first in its inaugural year

Competition

TAMU VFD competes in the National Vertical Flight Society student Design-Build-Vertical Flight competition. Every year, dozens of teams from top universities across the country compete to take home the trophy. This competition is designed to develop hands-on skills and familiarization with eVTOL and advanced air mobility (AAM) technology at the university student level and prepare the next generation of engineers and leaders to push the limits of this exciting technology into the future.
